Summerhill Stables,

Pin Oak Stables &

The Stables at Norwood

Summerhill is a wonderful 30 acre farm located about 6.5 miles west of Rt. 288 on Huguenot Trail (Robious Rd.). Our barn includes 17 stalls, a tack room, a feed room, and a wash rack with both hot and cold water.  We have six fields for turnout and ensure that horses are placed in small, compatible groups.  Our huge 200’x300’ lighted sand ring with jumps offers plenty of room for schooling, but we also have a large field and trails if you are looking for a change of pace.* We do not require that you take lessons, as we are not a lesson barn, but we can recommend several trainers in the area and have one trainer on-site if you are interested. If you already have a trainer, feel free to bring him/her with you. Summerhill hosts both VHSA Associate and GRHSA shows at about one show per month. If you are interested in showing more extensively but do not have transportation, simply talk to Joe, and he will haul your horse for you. Please come take a look at all this wonderful barn has to offer!

Only full board is offered at Summerhill.

Summerhill Stables

Norwood is a historic 150 acre plantation. This gorgeous farm fronts the James River and is only 3.5 miles west of Rt. 288 on Huguenot Trail (Robious Rd.). This facility was completed in 2006 with new four board fencing and a 26 stall barn with two tack rooms, a feed room, a wash rack with hot and cold water, and seven standing stalls in which pasture boarded horses are fed individually. We offer several trails and a grass ring with jumps for schooling.* Like Summerhill, you are not required to take lessons, but we can recommend our on-site trainer as well as local trainers, or you can bring your own. At Norwood we believe in the more traditional herd situation and only have three large pastures and one lay-up paddock. This setup has been very successful, and we have had less injuries and illnesses than most barns. Norwood has all breeds, disciplines, and ages, and we pride ourselves in a family-type atmosphere.  One look and you are sure to fall in love with this farm!

Both full and pasture board are offered at Norwood.

* As a boarder you have full use of any of our facilities. You may trailer your horse to Norwood for a long trail ride, to Summerhill for a lesson in the ring, or to Pin Oak to enjoy the indoor arena. If you do not own your own trailer, simply set up a time with Joe, and he would be more than happy to trailer your horse. Joe is also available to trailer your horse to shows.
